Daiwa Foundation Awards: Awards of £9,000-£18,000 are available for collaborative projects that enable British and Japanese partners to work together in the context of an institutional relationship
The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation travel grants:
Standard travel grants between the UK and Japan are £2,000, and up to £2,500 for visits of two weeks or more (also includes travel for PhD students from UK universities wishing to visit Japan). Applications for longer-term fieldwork of six months or more in Japan can be considered, with grants of up to £5,000.
